Aged for 42 months on oak, the 2006 Durif Reserve offers a staggeringly dry structure. However, this time was to good effect as it has softened the 2006 Durif to expose a lush plum nose with hints of herbs and black pepper. The palate is highlighted by soft vanilla notes, with blueberry and blackberry featured prominently on the finish. Like most Durifs, this wine has potential to be a long-term ager. However, the extra time on the oak may makes it immediately approachable with a projected peak in 2014.
