Thanksgiving Weekend news

Hi everyone.  Some quick news.

First, we're going to be closed the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend, December 1st and 2nd.  It's usually slow and we need a break. 

Second, we are trying something new to help us handle the volume of people on Thanksgiving.  There will be a $5 fee.  The fee is to cover the cost of the logo glasses we'll be providing to each taster.  The glasses are very nice and yours to keep.  We haven't decided on our tasting fee refund policy regarding wine purchases, but we'll get something fair figured out before the date and I'll post the policy here.

Why do this?  It just allows us to focus our time on the customers rather than washing glasses.

Harvest Closure Comments

All things considered, we came out pretty well.  I like to offer an incredible thanks to Dave Sandage, Doug and Cheryl Barlow, and Willmer for sacrificing their entire weekend to pick grapes.  We had a large harvest: 2.7 tons of Muscat and 4 tons of Pinot Noir.  The fruit is different from previous years, but holds much promise.  It is lower in sugar, consistent with all predictions, however, the long hang time and low sugar should offer a delicate and subtle Pinot Noir that helped Oregon achieve it's reputation so long ago.

10/27 & 10/28 - Matt and Galo's birthday party

W'e're something special to celebrate Matt and Galo's birthday.  It's an opportunity to offer a preview release of the '06 vintage Chardonnay and the Kelsey and Sophie Edition Pinots.  Thanksgiving can be so crazy so we thought we'd let you try it earlier if it are interested in trying it out with more time to talk about it.

As usual, nothing fancy....Galo will be cooking his Cuban Roast Pork and Matt  will think of something unique to cook as well, so drop by Purple Cow on  Saturday, October 27 or Sunday, October 28 for a taste of these scintillating wines.
