Ah Tempranillo, why have you teased us so long? We planted the first experimental vines in 2003, expanded to 700 plants in 2006, and still we are waiting to be rewarded for our care and stewardship. An excerpt from a recent Wine Club Member’s Manifesto:
“We the people of Purple Cow Nation, having joined your wine club because you rock at Tempranillo, have put up with the delay long enough. It is our unalienable right to pursue life, liberty, and Estate Tempranillo.”
Before you throw your member cards into the Willamette River…wait, we concede! It’s had it’s barrel time, it’s had some bottle time. Sure, Jon would like to wait even longer and make sure it’s peaked first, but he can’t have his way every time. Galo would prefer to drink it now because in its current form it’s more like the Tempranillo of his youth anyway.
Enjoy it anyway you like as we’re all going to learn together. There was such a small amount of 2008 that we haven’t been allowed to try it ourselves.
